SANDAG strives to make transportation accessible to all, which is why we have developed grant programs that encourage local agencies and nonprofit organizations to expand transportation options for older adults and people with disabilities. Funding for these types of projects is crucial in meeting the increasing needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities. In the San Diego region, the need for mobility for older adults is expected to increase as the population aged 60 and older is projected to grow to approximately 1.1 million people by 2050.
