SR 94 /SR 125 Interchange

Caltrans and SANDAG
TRANSNET PROGRAM

Project Overview

SANDAG and Caltrans are planning a two-phase approach to improve the SR 94/SR 125 interchange from the Spring Street undercrossing to the Kenwood Drive undercrossing on SR 94 and from the Spring Street undercrossing to the Lemon Avenue undercrossing on SR 125.

Schedule

Phase 1 construction is expected to begin in fall 2026. Work will include:

  • New auxiliary lanes on southbound SR 125 from Lemon Avenue to Spring Street
  • New auxiliary lanes on eastbound SR 94 from Bancroft to Kenwood Drive
  • New auxiliary lanes on northbound SR 125 from SR 94 to Lemon Avenue
  • Replacement of Mariposa Street overcrossing to accommodate SR 125 auxiliary lanes
  • New sound and retaining walls
  • Improvements for bike riders and pedestrians

Phase 2 would add a freeway-to-freeway connector from southbound SR 125 to eastbound SR 94, as well as remaining sound and retaining walls. Environmental studies are underway to evaluate the impacts associated with the proposed flyover connector structure. The final environmental document is expected in 2028.

Budget

Phase 1 is fully funded with a mix of federal, state, and regional TransNet revenue. Phase 2 is not yet fully funded through construction.
