At SANDAG, we’re committed to protecting our environment. We believe that preserving and enhancing the quality of life for every individual in the San Diego region is one of our most important responsibilities. It’s our job not only to plan and build major infrastructure projects, but also to make our communities better places to live.
As we carry out a multitude of projects big and small, we’re preserving native habitats, protecting endangered species, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, addressing climate change, protecting wetlands and coastal lagoons, and restoring sand to our beaches. One of our most important efforts is preserving thousands of acres of open space across the region that will benefit our communities for generations to come.
With our TransNet Environmental Mitigation Program, SANDAG has become a model for other agencies on proactively protecting and conserving the environment while responsibly delivering critical transportation infrastructure.
