SANDAG and the Urban Collaborative Project CDC are partnering to launch a microtransit service in southeastern San Diego. The service will provide residents and visitors with accessible, affordable connections to key destinations in the Mount Hope, Chollas View, and Emerald Hills neighborhoods. This electric vehicle (EV) service will provide zero-emission rides for up to four passengers within the service area. Riders will be able to reserve the vehicles through a smartphone app or by calling our hotline.
Before launching the program, the project team and partners will work with the southeastern San Diego community members to gather feedback through surveys and discussions. The public input will be used to create the project operations plan. Check back for opportunities to participate.
The service will be operated by Via Transportation and funded by SANDAG, the City of San Diego, and the Clean Mobility Options Voucher program. Clean Mobility Options is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of cap-and-trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment—particularly in underserved communities. It is also part of California Energy Commission’s Clean Transportation Program, which is investing more than $1 billion to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission transportation infrastructure and support in-state manufacturing and workforce training and development.
