SANDAG's data on crimes and their victims help practitioners, policy makers and community members understand the nature and extent of crime in their communities. This understanding can help with efforts to reduce victimization such as crime prevention initiatives, and support victims in the healing process through services such as victims’ compensation.
Current Victims Projects
Project LIFE
SANDAG is partnering with North County Lifeline’s Project LIFE (Living in Freedom from Exploitation) under a contract with the U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime to provide specialized services to victims of human trafficking. Through this work, SANDAG will document the process and outcome impacts to inform the development of best practices.
REACH Coalition Expansion Evaluation
The REACH (Recover, Empower, Advocate, Collaborate, Heal) Coalition consists of seven collaborative partners and strives to ensure that all human trafficking victims identified in San Diego County have access to victim-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and comprehensive services. Through funding acquired from the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), North County Lifeline and SANDAG is working with the REACH Coalition to conduct a process and outcome evaluation of the project.
