Reducing harmful air pollution and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in our area will take action at every level. Because of this, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded us a Climate Pollution Reduction Grant to bring together climate action planning in the region.
Priority Climate Action Plan
We worked with local governments, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to develop and publish the first ever San Diego Regional Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) in March 2024. It identifies measures that could be carried out by 2030 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality in the region.
Comprehensive Climate Action Plan
Currently, we’re continuing to collaborate with our partners to develop the San Diego Regional Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP). This will build on existing climate action planning in the region and identify longer-term measures to reduce GHG emissions in the San Diego region through 2050. The CCAP will include an updated analysis of the amount of greenhouse gas emissions coming from different sources in the region. The CCAP will be completed in July 2025.
Regional Climate Table Workshops
Periodically, we bring together government agencies, community-based organizations, environmental nonprofits, and others to discuss regional climate planning efforts and gather input on key projects and plans. The agendas from these meetings provide overviews of past discussions.
