Regional Climate Action Planning

We can only achieve the reduction of harmful air pollution and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in our area when we work together. Using the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Climate Pollution Reduction Grant awarded to SANDAG, we are finding ways to synergize climate action planning in the region.

Climate Action Roadmap

In collaboration with our partners, we developed a comprehensive, long-term vision for reducing climate pollution called the Draft San Diego Regional Climate Action Roadmap. This document builds on existing climate action planning in the region and identifies 23 long-term measures that will reduce GHG emissions in the San Diego region through 2045. The roadmap includes an updated analysis of the amount of GHG emissions coming from different sources in the region. The draft roadmap will be available soon for public review, and the final version will be complete by December 2025.

Priority Climate Action Plan

We worked with local governments, community-based organizations, and other partners to develop and publish the first ever San Diego Regional Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) in March 2024. It identifies measures that could be carried out by 2030 to reduce GHG emissions and improve air quality in the region.

Regional Climate Table Workshops

Periodically, we bring together government agencies, community-based organizations, environmental nonprofits, and others to discuss regional climate planning efforts and gather input on key projects and plans. The agendas from these meetings provide overviews of past discussions.
