Bike Classes for Youth

SANDAG offers free bike classes to K-12 schools and youth organizations in the San Diego region. These classes are designed to teach students the many benefits of taking active forms of transportation.

Classes Offered

Walking, biking, skating, or riding a scooter to school helps promote physical activity and a healthier lifestyle for students. All classes can be customized for your school, organization, or age group.

  • Walk, Ride, and Roll Assembly: A helmet-fitting demonstration and basics about walking and biking safely to school
  • Bike Rodeo: On-bike activity focusing on the importance of seeing, being seen, and always remaining in control while riding a bike
  • All About E-bikes: Covers road rules for bikes with a focus on e-bike regulations and tips on how and where to ride safely and legally
  • Bike-Friendly Driver Class: Teaches drivers and people on bikes valuable skills on how to share the road including laws regarding right-of-way, lane positioning, and passing 
  • Biking Together: An evening class for families that covers e-bikes, road rules, roundabouts, street signs, signals, and more

Classes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. After your organization signs up, a representative will follow up with you within three business days to schedule your class. Only an administrator or staff member representing a school or youth organization may sign up for these classes.
